False Start!

You know when you step on the pedals only for your chain to snap?

Well, consider this post the broken link in your week.

Yes, owing to various blah blah blah and so forth today's post must be short, so I suggest you go amuse yourself over at the Bike Forecast, where you can read about the latest local media anti-bike screeds:

If you've ever longed to read a detailed statistical breakdown of your odds of being killed by an ebike versus by an order of Teriyaki beef then I promise you won't be disappointed.

Also, in case you missed it, my latest Outside column went up last Friday:

And you'll be thrilled to know that I'm finally writing up the BSNYC BOOMB!* Pre-Fondon't Ride report, which is only approximately five months late!

*[Beers On Old Man Brooks]

Please note that I have until the end of the year to organize the official 2017 Fondon't, or to retroactively re-brand the Pre-Fondon't Ride as the Actual Fondon't Ride, depending on how lazy I am.

Or we could just do a Mountain Fondon't instead:

I welcome your feedback.  (Unless it has to do with your thoughts regarding suspension.)

Until later,

I remain,

Blah blah and so forth,

Well this is odd, my dog told me there was a photo of me in your blog today and you got my good side.

I don't understand what he means by that because you can't see my face.

Unless he meant.... Nah, couldn't be. He seemed sincere.

What am i paying you for? Excuses?

Nobody ever told me that I should break my bike chains. How exactly do I go about it and is there an optimum force that I need to apply? What have I been missing all my life?

Ripp's "Curious George" dog whistle eluded my eardrums until you called it out. Nice catch.

If you're looking for some great last minute Holloween costume ideas, consider:

William Tecumseh Sherman

Abraham Lincoln

John Brown (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Brown_(abolitionist))

One of those characters is certain to scare the pants off the likes of Ripp. Or Trump, for that matter.

WCRM-

I thank you deeply for the salutation, "Boom Shanka". I used it as a toast (with explanation) at my nephew's wedding & it was well-received by all.

Hey Wildcat, I saw you at the Thursday Draft thingy in Hipsterland. It was actually really funnny (yuckety yuck). I didn't know you did stand up too. So yeah, it's worth it to make the effort and see this dude do his schtick even if you have to endure people who are much younger and cooler and have wealthier parents than you and will undoubtedly be buying brownstones soon and to whom you will likely eventually have to give half of your salary to pay rent to live in this place. Sorry to get off-topic. I vote for a non-Mountain fondon't since I don't have a MountainFred Sled. Trails are good. Thanks.

If I get a vote (I don't), I vote for a Mountain Fondont.

I'm pretty sure the screed are an alien species in Star Trek. Didn't know they were anti-bike or involved with local media.

Dear BSNYC, since I live in Extreme Northern New Jersey and prefer to ride to the ride, the traditional road and trail mix works best for me. If it ends up being a mountain ride perhaps I'll show up for beer at the end anyway!

I'll be in town on the 11th. Nothing like a holiday weekend for a group ride. Does that work good for everybody?

Had to watch the Trumpster fly around in our nation's helicopters on my way to work - sadly Halloween ghouls didn't disrupt the flight - I doubt he saw me flip the bird from up there

JLRB,I guess that's a trick and not a treat.
