ReplyDeleteModern Hebrew is written mostly without vowels, so the letter "bet" can be pronounced as a "b" or a "v."
I did a double-take when I read Mr. Kuntzman's last name. We have plenty of bagels in fly-over land, as well as a fair number of jewish folks (the guy who recruited me out of DC to move to Nashville comes from a long line of Jews living in the American south), but we don't have a lot of folks with "Kunt" in their surnames. I suppose the phonetics just don't translate well in 'Mericanese.
