Just Checking In

In case you're wondering, Eroica California was a smashing success:

This is my final day in the Golden State, or the Sunshine State, or whatever the hell it is they call themselves, and I will be spending it returning various bikes to various places and wondering why I live in New York.

Oh, right, it's the transit system, how could I forget:

See you when I see you!

  2. Podium? I have seen various posts at various places regarding Eroica in CA. Hope you had a good time with all that old steel and all those old people. As for myself, one of my bikes is a 1980-ish Chinook (Bruce Gordon production bike, not custom)with recent-ish Campy gruppo. Plus I am old.

  4. Wildcat, is that your Eroica ride in the photo? If so good of you to leave the giant chain ring jokes to your commentators.

(I believe the Sunshine State is the Florido, and CA remains Golden)

  9. Finishing up my tax return and thought I'd check here for a distraction. Then it occurred to me that your status as a semi-pro bike blogger allows you to claim your Eroica trip as a business expense. Is that correct? You magnificent bastard!

  16. Just remember Wildcat if you lived in Cali, You wouldn't be Bikesnob; you'd be Bikedude or Coolsnob or Mellowsnob. It wouldn't be the same. - Mas

  18. To truly enjoy the Eroica experience, I suppose you have to take up smoking, fill your bidons with vino, and grow a luxuriously full bush. Can you clip a pocket watch to a vintage jersey? I don't know if the Velominati addresses that.

I suspect the whole Eroica enterprise is some sort of plot by Big Hairnet to confound Specialized. Very fucking crafty!

  19. My dog keeps poking me in the ribs and insisting I write:

"Weather is here, wish you were lovely."

    That doesn't even make sense.

I think he's up to something.

  20. To quote my muse, J W Buffett:

The weather is here I wish you were beautiful
The skies are too clear life's easy today
The beer is too cold, the daiquiri's too fruitful
There's no place like home when it's this far away
I don't care what they say

  26. pbateman: No kidding. Apparently I'm nowhere near the fast eater I thought I was.

Note to self - slow down and enjoy my food more. Although, if the flood waters are about to burst into the train, all bets are off.
