Podio dio dio. Or moderation delay!!

One would have thought that the advent of comment moderation would discourage the urge to sprint for the podium.

Moderation delay.

All of my reCAPTCH confirmations are "street signs" using photos of actual nightmarish car-centric locations.

That's not fair teach! I only studied this weeks posts for today's quiz. You didn't say it was going to be cumulative! That shoe thing was from forever ago.

Nice, I was really close to getting a 24" bmx back in the day. A guy in my town named Gristle had a track for a while but he lost the rights to the property or something so I just held out for a few more years and got into the mountainbike cycling.

Maybe the new (and improved) UCI President can cause the death of 100,000 American Freds by Pardoning Armstrong and by giving him back his titles.

Question #7 needs an "All of the above" option...

Seeing Joe DeRosa as an answer got me thinking about his "Not my problem" when opening car doors in front of cyclists. NYC Vehicle & Traffic Law Title 7 Article 33 Section 1214 states "No person shall open the door of a motor vehicle on the side available to moving traffic unless and until it is reasonably safe to do so, and can be done without interfering with the movement of other traffic, nor shall any person leave a door open on the side of a vehicle available to moving traffic for a period of time longer than necessary to load or unload passengers."

So in addition to not being an anti-social asshole, the law also says it is your problem. I realize no traffic law is ever enforced in New York, but technically it is his problem.

I believe the tour jerseys are determined by ASO but perhaps the UCI could take away lance's world title (and everyone else as well and have them join the circus)

Number 2 is a trick question with no correct answer offered. The correct answer is 78 days, 14 hours and 40 minutes.

Whoa. Thank you for that Young Ones flashback.

The episode where they take a train to be on the University Challenge game show is one of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV.

I should be ecstatic that there's a quiz but I can't help but be disappointed there's no Outside article. Never mind that I can't keep up with your TA blog more than occasionally. Just kidding, this is the only blog that counts for the oldentards.

My dog wishes to point out that Brooklynites out Dutch the Dutch by surf board portaging on bike share bikes.

If it was a fat bike it should be Balush, even if it's not.

i will point out that if big feet made you a faster rider, i'd be riding in to paris by the end of stage 1.

just more fake-o news

coincidentally, surfing in tofino, where i will be kooking it up with a variety of under-arm boards while biking. any knobby tire bike is more fun than 'n', where 'n' equals fred plus whatever the 'new' thing is...

Sunshine on my window, makes me happy, like I should be. Outside, all around me, really sleazy, then it hits me.

Come on snob, too much scranus for Outside to publish this week? Time to apply some DFUs to them editors...

So I did the 5 boro pizza challenge this weekend. You had to go to appointed pizzerias in each boro and have a slice. Any mode of transportation except for cars.

Anyway, I got there and I was doing it solo instead of as a team and most people were teams taking the subway, so I decided not to be super competitive, just enjoy the bridges, bike lanes and ferries of NYC and not be all Strava-this, power-meter that. (You know how off-putting we bike people can be when we compete.) Since it was mostly non-bike people, I really wanted to quietly demonstrate how easy and fun it is to get around by bike. Show, don't tell. I mean I was grabbing a table, having a glass of red with my slices trying out toppings! at every spot that had seating. I was chatting with other teams before I'd leave for the next location about what their favorite slices had been and how were the subways running and whatnot.

Meanwhile, as I got to my last stop in Little Italy (during San Gennaro, no less), I see the eventual 1st place team full out running away like they had microfiche and ill-defined Eastern European baddies were after them. In that moment, I had a crestfallen "we were competing!" Anyway, I came in 6th. Next year, I'll be out for blood (and will only get plain cheese, those white slices killed me). Beautiful weather Saturday. Just gorgeous. You can see some pics on my mostly empty instagram @fietsdontfailmenow (I never remember to stop and take pictures, or to clip on my passive clip camera so it's mostly empty.

Congrats, janinedm.sounds like you had a blast.which place had the best pizza,or after glasses of red, it didn't matter?maybe snob will have, instead of a fondon't, he'll have a Gran Fondu.

janinedm said...

Great question BBOTS, Here's my list

1 Golden Pizza in the Bronx
2 Prince Street Pizza in Manhattan
3 Tie between Paulie's in Staten Island and Polito's in Queens
4 Best Pizza in Williamsburg (ironic, I know)

janinedm said...

oh and I got cheese at 3 and toppings at 2 the white pizza at polio's and the pepperoni at paulie's. Honestly, I think if I had gotten the cheese at paulie's i would have liked it better. The sauce was super salty and the pepperoni put it over the top.

bad boy of the south said...

Well, I will be back north less than a month from now . perhaps I will partake .sorry to miss the San Genaro fest, again .

My dog claims expertise on the Gran Fondu circuit.

Somewhere in NJ this weekend, a bar mitzvah was missing its chocolate fountain.

bad boy of the south said...

Leroy, how my much did he abscond with?did he share?

leroy said...

BBOTS @2:59 - He didn't need to share. I had pecan pie 10 miles earlier. I may have gained weight on this ride.
