New Radio Show, New Jones Owner!

Hello!

Don't get too comfortable, this is just a quick update.

Firstly, I was on the radio again this morning, and here's the show for your listening...well, for your listening:

Secondly, I have no second item.

Thirdly, the Jones SWB officially has a new owner!

It was a really hard decision, and I'll share more later once I've consulted with the lucky winner, but let's just say for now the bike's new curator has some very, very, very big plans for it.

  1. Bummer, I didn't win. But the oods might have been better if I actually took the time to submit an entry.

  7. A CEO submitted a contest entry so that the 20 year old maintenance guy doesn't have to walk to work any more [to support his parents and kids] I can see the headline now

  9. I am assuming I didn't win, because I didn't have any big plans, but since you haven't contacted the wiener yet; I'll vainly hold out hope.
It's OK though I recently acquired the new Crust Scapegoat and near as I can tell it & the Jones are very close spec. wise and the Crust is WAY Cooler looking. So, I guess I'll live. - Masmojo

  10. No blog. No new Jones owner. Us also-rans can only hope that the winner was arrested for bike-jacking over the weekend. It would not be cycling if the winner isn't eventually the runner-up.

  12. My dog asked me to ask you to return the ten dollar bill he stapled to his Jones application.

He says he wants to put it back in my wallet before I notice it's missing.

  13. Lordy. It has taken some time so it must be complicated. Some theories about who won:
    1. Ruth Bader Ginsberg
    2. Danny MaCatskills
    3. Eben Weiss
    4. A marketing consortium involving Outside magazine, Jones, Voodoo Donuts, and Wedu.
    5. Tuscany

  14. I take a lazziez faire approach to staying abreast of media these days - thanks, Al Gore! so just got around to listening to this week's episode. Comments made while listening... Nice Marvin Gardens rant leading off. Citibikes - like self-hailed mini-taxis held at taxi stands that a person drives themselves while getting that exercise the doctor ordered... high tech, connected commercial vehicles like trucks and for-hire livery vehicles could be required as a condition of licensing give THEMSLEVES tickets for parking in bike lanes and be required to record their driving (very big brother, but why not?)...neutralize the discussion about bike traffic as often as possible into discussion about traffic or road users, ala "nobody approves of delivery VEHICLES of breaking the law"(or for-hire VEHICLES like citibike OR Uber operators)... I don't know if the 19th century history of bikes in NYC matters to the average Joe these days but is fundamental in cementing the validity of bicycle traffic in the city. Teddy Roosevelt and his bike squad against the scorchers. Bring back a more genteel time in New Amsterdam. Which is a great redux reference and play on words for the potential of bikes in the city. Who coined reuse of the orgin name for the bike renaissance, I wonder - Was it Janette?

  15. Well, the Crust is definitely better theft-wise! You don’t even need to lock it up since everyone’s scared it’s contagious...

  16. Doubtful. RBG, I mean. Word is she went all "Weekend at Bernie's" some months ago. Probably playing pinochle with Scalia.
